Working in the Private Sector

To relocate to live and work in the UAE, it is crucial for expatriates to understand certain information that facilitates their legal and comfortable settlement in the country.

Before arriving in the UAE, expatriates need to ensure that their passport is valid for at least six months, in addition to obtaining an entry permit according to the procedures established by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the relevant emirate.

Except for citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, a residence visa is a fundamental requirement for all expatriates wishing to work or live in the UAE. It is also necessary for obtaining many essential services, such as opening a bank account or obtaining a driver's license.

Entry permits for sponsored individuals are obtained upon request from the sponsor, whether it is the employer, employee, or investor, who holds a valid residence visa in the country.

The entry permit is valid for two months from the date of issuance, and within one month of entering the country, necessary procedures must be followed to obtain a residence visa for a duration of two years.
